At OnTrend Concepts, we recently decided to convert one of our first newsletters, The Delivery Digest, into The Grocery Delivery Digest. But why the seemingly minor change?
2020 provided for a never-before-seen acceleration of the food delivery industry. This impacted the delivery of grocery items through platforms such as Instacart and Shipt; and delivery of restaurant meals through companies like DoorDash, Uber Eats, and Grubhub. This rapid acceleration provided the golden opportunity to create an information forum to keep industry leaders and operators up to date on the news and trends in their field. Hence, The Delivery Digest was born.
As time went on, delivery models became more innovative, and with it, the original similarities between grocery and restaurant delivery models became more and more distinct. For restaurants, the explosion of ghost kitchens played a key role in this subtle divide. As that gap increased, it became clear that the delivery operations for grocers and restaurants were two unique beasts. Hence, The Ghost Kitchen Digest was born to cover news which greatly pertained to the delivery of restaurants meals.
Grocery delivery plays a crucial role for the success of grocery companies today; and with new developments and creative endeavors being launched constantly, we want to make sure that you are up to date on all of it. It no longer made sense to cover all topics of food delivery in the restaurant industry and in the grocery industry in the same digest; it’s important that our readers have access to information which is tailored to their industry. That’s why we have decided to revise our delivery newsletter to focus solely on the news and trends in grocery delivery, giving rise to your Grocery Delivery Digest.
For us here at OnTrend Concepts, we look forward to sharing this news with you every week. It’s our pleasure. Enjoy!
